Root Canal Treatment
A severely inflamed or infected tooth does not always need to be removed. Root canal treatment can often relieve pain, eliminate infection, and allow you to keep your natural tooth. We perform most root canals in house yet work alongside our specialists in select cases.
-
During a root canal, the infected or inflamed tissue inside the tooth is carefully removed. The inside of the tooth is then cleaned, disinfected, and sealed so the tooth can remain functional.
-
An infection inside a tooth can cause pain, swelling, tenderness, or an abscess—and sometimes may cause very few symptoms. We evaluate the source of the infection and determine whether root canal treatment can save the tooth.
-
Tooth pain can have many causes. We carefully evaluate the tooth to determine where the discomfort is coming from before recommending treatment.
-
When an infected tooth causes significant pain or swelling, prompt treatment can relieve discomfort and begin controlling the source of the infection.
-
After root canal therapy, a tooth often requires a permanent restoration, frequently a crown, to protect it and restore its strength for long-term use.
